Branson's Newest Thrill: Gravity Bomb

After three days of traveling to all the major Missouri theme parks, me and my sister decided to make one more stop to check out Gravity Bomb at Bigfoot On The Strip. No more than 15 minutes from Branson's main theme park Silver Dollar City, this yeti-themed action zone has much to offer for thrill seekers of all ages. This place features arcade games, mini golf, food trucks, ETC. But the big attraction that we stopped by to experience was the 200 foot drop tower "Gravity Bomb".

Now I want to start out by saying that drop towers intimidate me. There is nothing more frightening then going up hundreds of feet with your legs hanging in the air, just to plummet back down to earth. Fortunately (or unfortunately) for me, my sister absolutely loves free falling, and forces me on every drop tower in sight. This meant that no matter what excuse I could conjure up, I was getting on Gravity Bomb.

If the looming 200-plus-foot tall structure wasn't terrifying enough, when you sit into your seat, you quickly realize that there are no over-the-shoulder restraints. Oh, it gets better! Not only did they forget to put any restraints above your shoulders, but they also left out the lap bars as well. So the only thing holding you into the ride are two seat belts (Very strong I will add) and Jesus Christ. My thought when we finally strapped in was, "well at least we went to Silver Dollar City before I'm about die."

As we made our way to the top, the infamous intro to Disturbed's track "Down With The Sickness" begins. This was a great feature of the ride which really fueled the anticipation as we climbed higher and higher. When we got to the top, the views of the Ozark mountains painted in the Branson skyline were absolutely gorgeous. However, this first time around I could have cared less about the view. I was too busy holding, waiting and praying. Because there are only seatbelt restraints, there is nothing to hold on to, which of course I didn't realize until we hit maximum height. Suddenly the music pauses and the ride dangles for a moment. Then you hear the best part of the song, "Oh wah ah wah ah!" and just like that you begin diving straight down the Bigfoot Action Tower. I yelled with excitement, hands raised all the way to the bottom. The rush was so jolting, that when the ride operator offered us a chance to ride again, we didn't hesitate to say, "yes!"

Gravity Bomb is so unique and perfectly designed. I highly recommend the stop at Bigfoot On The Strip if you are in the Branson area. The only downfall I found, was how pricy one drop is. But, I would be lying to you if I said that it wasn't worth every penny. Now that I have survived and even enjoyed Gravity Bomb, I have added a night drop to my bucket list. And maybe, just maybe, I'll check out their insane Super Sling in the process. We shall see!
