There is no secret that Silver Dollar City has a major rollercoaster coming in 2018. However the park has been very tight lipped on exactly what kind of coaster is being built. Silver Dollar City has only mentioned that this attraction will more than double the size of any other ride in the park. They also promise that this ride will make history and feature several world's firsts. Much of the other details we have had to fill in using construction photos and speculation.
So here is what we have gathered. With track already going vertical, we know the coaster is being designed by Mack Rides. We also know that it is going to feature a near vertical drop coming out of the station. Speaking of the station, this structure is massive. I remember visiting on opening week and not believing that this huge building was for a coaster. We also know that this coaster has a large footprint to work in with footers scattered about the site. Finally, the theming with the latest teasers suggest that this coaster will have a time travel theme. Toward the end of 2016 a survey went out to guest telling participants to choose one of three concepts for an upcoming an attraction. Concept one was Time Traveler (pictured below). The clues provided in that concept point to a spinning launched coaster. There also looks to be a large amount of theming during the time in the station and the during the actual ride experience.

Recent hints from the park and name trademark filings suggest that Time Traveler is the likely concept.
So what will the layout feature. Most of this is speculation but a few who have observed the latest track and support installations point to more than one inversion being built into the layout. There are also multiple diving banked turns and even a potential overbank helix. Regardless of the elements, this will truly be a one of a kind coaster. We have never seen a extreme spinning launched coaster before. Or have we? The video at the bottom from Mack Rides shows testing that designers did with spinning trains on Blue Fire Megacoaster at Europa Park. This footage shows just how insane this ride could be.
Only time will tell how strong the layout will be. Luckily that time is just a few days as Silver Dollar City posted on social media that their big announcement will be on August 16th at 10:45 A.M. local time. This also happens to be National Rollercoaster Day when Cedar Fair plans to reveal their four coasters coming in 2018. My personal feeling is that this will be the biggest announcement for 2018. Yes RMC Mean Streak looks amazing but Time Traveler looks to bring that European theming flavor to a completely new rollercoaster experience. This 2018 historic addition will certainly add to the charm and lure of Branson's biggest tourist spot.
